Sardine Toast, Three Ways

Sardine toast on sourdough with lemon zest and herbs

Thick toast, a good tin, and five minutes. Make it one of three ways:

  1. Toast thick slices of bread until crisp at the edges.
  2. Classic lemon: lay a sardine fillet on each toast, squeeze over lemon juice and finish with flaky salt.
  3. White bean smash: mash sardines with white beans, lemon zest and chopped parsley, then pile onto the toast.
  4. Chilli crunch: top the fillets with a spoonful of chilli crisp and soft herbs.
  5. Serve straight away, with extra lemon wedges on the side.

Start with a beginner tin or the Starter Kit.
